b-ware! Ladenkino is a cinema on Gärtnerstraße in Friedrichshain, with three screening rooms. It began in 2004 as an open-air cinema and settled at its present address in 2010/11, together with Filmkunst, its DVD rental library. The cinema describes the house as also holding a café and a whisky bar. To find it, look for the words "DIES IST KEIN KINO" ("this is not a cinema") above the entrance. There is no popcorn.
On its page for English speakers, the cinema says it screens many films in their original English version, usually with German subtitles, and adds English subtitles to non-English films, German films in particular, where the distributor makes them available. Its own key reads OV as the original English version and EN as English sound. OmeU (English subtitles) and OmdU (German subtitles) describe the subtitles only, so neither label by itself means English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
The open-air screenings take place at separate locations, not on Gärtnerstraße, so check the address for an open-air screening before you set out.
