Sinema Transtopia is a cinema in Haus C at Lindower Straße 20/22 in Wedding, run as a project of bi'bak. It began in 2020 at Haus der Statistik on Alexanderplatz before moving to Wedding, and it describes itself as a transnational space for film culture, art and community. Its programme includes curated film series and festival programmes; one strand, Common Visions Berlin, is given over to Berlin's communities.
The foyer, called Sinema Hane, is a place to meet, eat and drink, with a bar and small dishes, and in the warmer months it extends into a courtyard garden that also serves as an open-air cinema. Drinks may be taken into the cinema hall, food may not, and seats are assigned. Sinema Transtopia says the foyer and screening room are barrier-free through the garden entrance and that barrier-free toilets are available.
The cinema's programme gives each film's spoken language and subtitle language, and it includes films in other languages with English subtitles. English subtitles do not mean English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
