Lichtblick-Kino is an independent Programmkino (arthouse cinema) on Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg, run as a collective by the association Stattkino Berlin e.V. Alongside current arthouse films, its programme includes many classics, retrospectives and surveys of a director's work, documentaries, short films and politically engaged productions, as well as children's screenings. The cinema says it invites filmmakers to screenings as often as possible.
With 32 seats, it is a very small cinema. It occupies a former butcher's shop and the butcher's flat in the house project at Kastanienallee 77, its home since 1998, and it can project digitally as well as on 35 mm and 16 mm film. The cinema's about page tells its history. For public transport, Lichtblick lists the Schwedter Straße tram stop (M1 and 12), Senefelder Platz on the U2, and Eberswalder Straße (U2) or Rosenthaler Platz (U8) with a connecting tram.
Lichtblick labels screenings OV, OmU or OmeU. None of these labels by itself means English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
