Freiluftkino Kreuzberg is a seasonal open-air cinema in the courtyard of Kunstquartier Bethanien on Mariannenplatz, run by Freiluftkino.Berlin FKR GmbH. Its programme mixes recent arthouse films, international classics and award-winning films, and the cinema says every film is shown in its original language with German or English subtitles. Screenings go ahead whatever the weather.
The cinema gives its location as near Kottbusser Tor U-Bahn station. The courtyard is entered from Adalbertstraße, to the left of number 23a, or from Bethaniendamm; there is no way through the Bethanien building itself. Bicycles stay at the racks outside the entrance. Seats are not assigned: there are around 300 deck chairs plus regular chairs, and cushions and blankets are lent out except when it rains. The cinema describes itself as wheelchair accessible and has an induction loop for hearing aids, which covers the first two rows of the middle block and the deck chairs just in front. Its accessibility page has the details.
The operator's programme shows which subtitle version each screening has. An original-language screening with subtitles does not by itself mean English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
