Eva Lichtspiele is a cinema on Blissestraße in Wilmersdorf. The cinema says it opened in 1913 as the Roland Lichtspiele and took its present name after a rebuilding in the 1920s, when films were shown with live music, first by a violinist and later by a full orchestra. According to the cinema, the building came through the Second World War almost undamaged and the cinema kept running throughout; details such as the neon lettering on the façade still recall that long history.
The programme mixes current releases with older titles, including a strand called "Der alte deutsche Film" for older German films. Eva Lichtspiele lists the U-Bahn station Blissestraße and bus lines 101, 104 and 249. The cinema's Unser Kino page has its history and address.
Eva Lichtspiele's own programme includes German-language films. Our listings here are for its English-audio screenings.
