Kino Casablanca is a single-screen cinema on Friedenstraße in Adlershof. The cinema says films were probably first shown here from 1912, on the ground floor of a 1903 apartment building, under the name "Central". After it closed in 1958 the rooms served as a costume store and storeroom for East German television, and the cinema reopened as Casablanca in 1994 after extensive conversion. The name describes the decor: the foyer bar is modelled on the Café Américain from the film, painted scenes from "Casablanca" line the foyer walls, and the auditorium is decorated with Moroccan street scenes.
The auditorium has 85 seats. Alongside current releases, the cinema runs a series of classic and cult films back on the big screen, a queer film night with films from the international festival circuit, and a children's series for ages three and up, with quieter sound, a less dark room and no advertising.
Casablanca marks some screenings OmU or DmengU. Neither label by itself means English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
