The BrotfabrikKINO is the cinema of the Brotfabrik on Caligariplatz, which also has a stage, a gallery, a literature programme and a pub. The Brotfabrik is run by the members' association Glashaus e.V. in cooperation with the Pankow district office. The cinema says it has existed since the Brotfabrik opened in May 1990, and after several changes of location and size it is now a single room with 70 seats.
Its programme combines current releases with classics, feature films and documentaries, and also makes room for short and experimental films. Alongside its regular screenings it hosts audience talks, premieres, retrospectives, film series and festivals, as well as joint events with the Brotfabrik's other areas, such as silent-film concerts. The cinema notes that it shows no advertising before its films. Some screenings are labelled OmU, which does not by itself mean English audio. Our listings here are for English-audio screenings.
The Brotfabrik says the cinema is on the ground floor and can be reached without barriers, and that a wheelchair-accessible toilet is available.
