Superman

If you're a fan of superhero movies that mix heart, humor, and high-stakes action, James Gunn’s Superman might just be your new favorite. This 2025 reboot kicks off the new DC Universe (DCU) and reintroduces the iconic hero with a fresh take that’s both grounded and cosmic.
David Corenswet steps into the cape as Clark Kent/Superman, a Kryptonian raised on Earth who's trying to balance his alien heritage with his human values. He’s not just saving the world—he’s navigating love, identity, and public perception. The film dives into his relationship with Lois Lane (played by Rachel Brosnahan), his role at the Daily Planet, and his interactions with a new generation of superheroes. It’s a Superman who’s earnest, kind, and a little unsure of his place in a complicated world.
The story kicks off when Superman intervenes in an international conflict, only to face backlash and a powerful new enemy orchestrated by none other than Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult). What follows is a journey that tests Superman’s ideals, pits him against a clone of himself, and forces him to confront the legacy of his Kryptonian parents. Along the way, he teams up with a quirky but capable group of heroes known as the Justice Gang, including Mister Terrific, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Metamorpho.
Gunn’s signature style shines through with colorful visuals, witty dialogue, and a heartfelt tone. Krypto, Superman’s superpowered dog, steals scenes and hearts, while the film’s emotional beats—especially those involving Clark’s adoptive parents and Lois—give it real depth. The cast is stacked, and performances from Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Hoult have been widely praised.
That said, if you’re not into superhero films with a lot of moving parts, this might feel a bit overstuffed. There’s a big ensemble, multiple subplots, and a lot of world-building going on. But for many, that’s part of the fun.
Superman has been a box office hit and received mostly positive reviews for its hopeful tone and fresh take on the character. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the Man of Steel, this film offers a modern, heartfelt, and action-packed ride that sets the stage for a new era in the DC Universe.
