Jurassic World Rebirth

If you're a fan of dinosaurs, action-packed adventures, and the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth might just be your next big-screen thrill. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp—who penned the original Jurassic Park—this 2025 installment brings a fresh cast and a new story while nodding to the series' roots.

Set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, the film follows Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), a covert ops expert hired to lead a high-stakes mission. Her team is tasked with retrieving genetic material from the three largest remaining dinosaurs on Earth—materials that could hold the key to curing heart disease. But things take a wild turn when their mission collides with a shipwrecked family, stranding everyone on a remote island filled with prehistoric dangers and a dark secret that’s been buried for decades.

The cast is stacked with talent, including Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. The film also introduces some new dinosaur species and terrifying hybrids, like the grotesque Distortus rex and the flying Mutadons, while bringing back fan favorites like the Spinosaurus and Mosasaurus with updated designs.

Visually, the movie is a stunner. Shot on 35mm film across Thailand, Malta, and the UK, it captures lush landscapes and intense action sequences with a cinematic flair. Alexandre Desplat’s score, recorded with a massive orchestra and choir, adds to the epic feel, blending new themes with classic Jurassic Park motifs.

Jurassic World Rebirth has been a box office hit, raking in over $800 million globally. Critics, however, are split. Some praise its return to the franchise’s adventurous spirit and improved tone over recent entries, while others feel it doesn’t bring enough new ideas to the table. If you're looking for groundbreaking storytelling, this might not be it. But if you're in the mood for a well-made, dinosaur-filled summer blockbuster, it delivers the goods.

Fans of the original Jurassic Park will appreciate the callbacks and Spielberg-style suspense, while newcomers can jump in without needing to know every detail of the previous films.
